I understand what you're saying about reusing photos (which calls journalistic ethics into question), but I don't believe these (and many other examples) can be blamed on sloppy work or laziness. Something more sinister is going on.
They are desperately trying to "sell us" on this war. Why? There are speculations as to why, but I am remaining neutral as I do not know enough about it (thanks to our state controlled media) to say either way.
Of course, if I don't participate in the "two minutes of hate" against Goldstein (Putin,) then people are conditioned to form erroneous opinions about me. What is an objective observer (who only wants the truth) to do these days? We are truly living in 1984, where the only thing Orwell got wrong was the date.
